One Day On Earth in Minneapolis, Minnesota

One Day On Earth in Minneapolis Minnesota from Jeremy Ryan Carr on Vimeo.

I was contacted a couple months ago by my friend and collaborator the brilliant DP Jeff Stonehouse about participating in this year's One Day On Earth project. His idea was that we would follow a group of homeless young people as they shot their own ODOE video about the challenges they face every day in the Twin Cities. I loved the idea and jumped at the chance to help tell this story.
We met some really great people while shooting this video and I was left inspired by how resilient these kids are despite what they've faced their whole lives. One young lady in particular, Evelyn Little Feather, really connected with us. She's 21 and she has a two year old daughter. They live with Evelyn's sister in an apartment out in the suburbs. Evelyn's hopes for her future include studying photography at MCAD, opening a photo studio, and getting a degree in social work so that she can help other people who are going through the same challenges that she has survived.
Work like this isn't done for financial gain or to advance one's career. I do projects like this so that I can learn about new things and try to tell stories to help others learn.
